County clean up day is coming

TRUMAN — Now that school is out there are going to be a lot more children on the streets, especially going to the local swimming pool. You must stop for crossing pedestrians at every intersection, even those without crosswalks or stoplights. Stop far enough back so drivers in other lanes can also see the pedestrian in time to stop. Do not block crosswalks while stopped, and do not pass other vehicles stopped for pedestrians. Drive smart by slowing down in neighborhoods and always park the phone, it’s the law.

Donations are still needed to help fund the annual Truman Days Parade. The parade is scheduled for 5 p.m. Saturday, July 24. Please help put on the parade by sending your donation to Truman Days Parade, P.O. Box 34, Truman, MN, 56088. Your sponsorship and/or

donations are sincerely appreciated.

Fairmont and Martin County clean-up will be held 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 19, at the Martin County Hwy Department, 1200 Marcus Street. Enter from Winnebago Avenue. They will accept household hazardous waste (HHW), appliances and electronics, tires, car batteries and furniture. There is a charge for appliances, electronics and furniture of $15 each, car tires are $3 each, semi tires/racing tires $10 each, and tractor tires $40 each, but HHW isfree.

Wednesday is recycling day. Containers should be placed curbside by 7 a.m. with the front of the container facing the street.
