Take mom fishing this weekend

TRUMAN — Take a Mom fishing weekend is this Saturday and Sunday. This is when Minnesota-resident moms can fish without purchasing a license. Even though the walleye season will not be open, there are still plenty of fun and easy fishing opportunities for crappie, sunfish, or even under-appreciated fish like buffalo, sucker, bullhead, or sheepshead. Remember the Minnesota fishing opener is May 15 this year. Fishing season dates, and the corrected Minnesota Fishing Regulations handbook are available online at mndnr.gov/fishing.

Happy Mother’s Day. Mothers are the sweetest gift from God. There is no way we can ever really thank our mother for all she does for us, so just tell her how much you love and care for her.

Truman Days committee will meet 6 p.m. Monday at Aardvark’s. All events are to continue as planned, but volunteers are needed. If you have any questions or would like to volunteer, please call Nancy at (507) 236-1314 or Donna at (507) 236-0983.

All are invited to play “500” cards every Wednesday at the Truman Community Building. Coffee will be available at 8:30 a.m. with card playing taking place from 9-11 a.m.
