Annual rummage sale continues

WELCOME — There is an annual rummage sale at Martin Luther High School in Northrop continuing today and Saturday. The hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday.

City-wide Clean Up Day for Welcome residents has been scheduled for April 24. A list of what is accepted should have been sent out with the utility bill. Remember, that proof of residency is asked and

only Welcome residents are eligible for this free service. For more information, contact the city clerk at Welcome City Hall at (507) 728-8740. This is a good opportunity to rid your yard of some of the junk that may be in violation of the junk ordinance for free.

The City would also like to remind residents that sump pumps must now be routed to their lawn or storm sewer not the sanitary sewer. This is in place from April 1 to Nov. 15. And a reminder that flushing items that are not flushable (although they may say flushable) will

plug up the sewer and cause water damage and/or expensive repair. Please do not flush those things.

Mowing grass before it reaches 7 inches and not placing clippings in the gutter or street is also an ordinance. It could be costly to the resident if the city has to mow.

There will be a fluorescent bulb recycling from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on May 6, in the parking lot at Tractor Supply in Fairmont. This is for Martin and Faribault County residents and businesses in connection with Prairieland Solid Waste Management in Truman.
