SHERBURN -- The Sherburn City Council gratefully accepted a donation of $2,500 from the Fox Lake Conservation League for the flashing safety light program for the Elementary School on 5th Street.
They approved the quote for the repair of manholes (underground) at Manyaska and Fairmont Streets and Manyaska and Kenzie Streets. They discussed the manhole at Third and Main Street and Brad Hughes will contact the company for that repair. The approval was for a cost of not more than $9,000.
Martin County West CER requested a donation for the Summer Theatre and tee-ball and the council approved $500 for each one.
The administrator's report included the increase of property values according to the Martin County Assessor's office based on sales of property at the end of 2019 and at the beginning of 2020. He also reported that the police report was down somewhat. He updated the council on the property at 112 South Manyaska Street and reported that a letter had been sent and he is waiting for a response about deeding it to the city.
The inventory system discussed at the last meeting for the liquor store and Red Carpet is not a good fit for the stores. The company
will resource some systems that are more user-friendly and easier for a retail inventory. The three percent fees for card usage at the Red Carpet were discussed and the possibility of giving a discount if cash is used was also discussed.
Clean-Up Day was set for April 24. Further information will be forthcoming after Hughes contacts the truck for their fees.
The insurable loss at Temperance Lake Ridge was discussed. There was a Servicemaster bill and some other bills. This will be tabled for the next meeting.
The next meeting for the city council will be 5 p.m. on April 5, at the Sherburn City Hall and via Zoom.
