Red Cross blood drive coming up

WELCOME — Last Sunday’s pancake feed fundraiser at the Welcome Fire Hall was a success, and the fire department would like to thank the community for their support. The raffle winners were also named that day and the grand prize winner of a Cup N’ Saucer food tasting for 10 people was won by Ron Glidden. There were four $50 gift cards given by Welcome Meats, two $25 gift cards from Korte’s, three $25 gift cards from Welcome Legion, and eight gift cards from Tami’s on the Ave. Congratulations to the winners and the fire fighters for a fun and delicious event. Thank you to the businesses and individuals that furnished gift cards for the raffle and the community members who came to the drive-thru pancake feed.

Sunday is Valentine’s Day, hint hint. Monday is President’s Day holiday, so there is no school and no mail service.

Welcome City Council will meet 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Welcome City Hall. All members are urged to attend. There is always a time for public comments and questions at the beginning of each meeting.

There will be a Red Cross blood drive from Tuesday through Thursday at the Holiday Inn in Fairmont. No walk-ins. Make an appointment by calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767), go online to www.redcrossblood.org or text BLOODAPP to 90999. Blood is especially needed now and giving blood is safe as more sanitizing is done to protect the donor and the Red Cross personnel.

Please wear a mask and follow COVID protocols.

The Jump Rope for Heart event will be held today at Trimont for Martin County West students to raise money for the American Heart Association. Due to COVID protocol, the parents will not be allowed

to be spectators this year. Thank you to Mrs. Janssen and the students for their donations and have fun.

February 17 is Ash Wednesday, the traditional beginning of the Lenten season. Circle of Faith congregations will offer Wednesday Lenten services at 6:30 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Welcome. The services will also be live streamed on Circle of Faith and First Lutheran Facebook pages.
