FAIRMONT -- City of Fairmont voters generated an impressive 85 percent turnout at the polls during the Nov. 3 general election.
The results of the 2020 election were canvassed by the Fairmont City Council at a special meeting on Thursday. The law requires the city to survey the returns within three to 10 days after the election.
The city had a total of 6,205 registered voters, including same-day registrants, on election day, with 5,283 casting ballots.
The finalized totals for at-large council member were: Michele Miller, 3,447; Tom Hawkins (incumbent), 1,634; write-in candidates, 15.
In Ward 2, the results were: Britney Kawecki, 525; Joe Loughmiller, 461; Ruth Cyphers (incumbent), 303; Ronald Lindberg, 181; write-in candidates, 6.
The final figures for Ward 4 were: Wayne Hasek (incumbent), 632; Terry Anderson, 395; write-in candidates, 7.
