Primary election slated for Aug. 11

WELCOME — Wow … tomorrow is August already. My how the time flies when you are home.

Welcome City Council will meet 6 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall.

There is always a time for public comments or questions at the beginning of each meeting. Reservations are not needed.

To be on the regular agenda, contact the city clerk prior to the meeting at (507) 728-8740.

Federated Rural Electric Association will hold its annual meeting Wednesday using a drive-through method. The meeting will be called to order 11 a.m. at the Martin County Fairgrounds in Fairmont and “drive-in” voting will occur at that location until 1 p.m., at which time the meeting will adjourn to the Jackson County Fairgrounds in Jackson. The meeting will reconvene at the Jackson County Fairground at 4:30 p.m. with “drive-in” voting from 4:30-6:30 p.m.

Primary elections will be held Aug. 11. The following townships will have mail-in voting: East Chain, Elm Creek, Fairmont, Fox Lake, Fraser, Galena, Jay, Lake Belt, Manyaska, Nashville, Rutland, and Tenhassen. City elections will be held at City Hall in Welcome. To apply for candidacy, contact City Hall soon.

There will be a virtual Relay for Life called “Stronger Together Minnesota Relay-for-Life” from 6-8 p.m. Saturday on the American Cancer Society MN Facebook page. Martin County Relay for Life will have a drive-through luminaria ceremony Sept. 26 at the Martin County Fairgrounds. Purchase a luminary or make a donation with your favorite team, or take it to US Bank. Make checks payable to the American Cancer Society.
