WELCOME — Thank you to all who gave blood at the blood drive this past Tuesday in Welcome. Also, thank you to those who helped with the registration and organization.

Next, there will be a blood drive from 1-6 p.m. Wednesday at Legends II in Ceylon.

The city of Welcome is missing a locator, which is black and yellow. There is a post on Facebook about what it looks like.

This is a new and expensive tool and the city employees need it. If anyone knows where it is, please contact City Hall by calling (507) 728-8740, or just bring it back.

Next weekend is the Welcome Summer Festival, which will be held July 17-18. If anyone wants a garage sale listed, the deadline for information is Monday. Call Kim Holm at (507) 236-1791 or Zach Gerhardt at (507) 236-7175.

As of this writing, the schedule for the festival is: registration for the bean bag tournament will begin 6 p.m. July 17, while the tournament will start at 7 p.m. that night. Food stands will be available July 17-18. On July 18, the parade will get underway around 3 p.m., with a firemen’s chicken feed from 5-7 p.m. at the Fire Hall. This will be drive-through or pickup only. Also after the parade, “Groove” marching band will play, as well as Michelle’s Hobo Band. There will be no street dance this year but bands will be outside on the street.

Those who would like to file for city public office from July 28 to Aug. 11 should contact City Hall at (507) 728-8740 for the necessary paperwork. Two council seats with four-year terms and the mayor’s position with a two-year term will be on the November ballot.
