Welcome Festival coming up soon

WELCOME — Welcome City Council will meet 6 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall.

Social distancing will be observed; masks are encouraged.

There is always a time for public comments at the beginning of each meeting.

Those who want to be on the agenda must contact the city clerk prior to the meeting at (507) 728-8740.

There will be a Red Cross blood drive from noon to 6 p.m. Tuesday at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Welcome.

To make an appointment, contact them at (800) 733-2767), go online at www.redcrossblood.org or text BLOODAPP to 90999. Appointments must be made to ensure staff can make social distancing arrangements. They also ask that masks be worn to protect the donor and the staff.

Using Rapid Pass will help shorten the time at the donation site.

Plans for the Welcome Festival on July 17-19 are being made.

If any resident wants to have a garage sale listed, contact Kim Holm at (507) 236-1791 or Zach Gerhardt at (507) 236-7175 before the deadline of July 13.

Other events planned are a bean bag tournament with registration July 17, and the parade at 3 p.m. July 18.

There will be a chicken feed sponsored by the Welcome Fire Department from 5-7 p.m. July 18 using drive-thru or pickup only.

The city of Welcome reminds residents not to discharge grass from lawn mowers into the street. This will help keep our lakes and streams from producing extra algae.
