Clean-up day set for Saturday

WELCOME — Clean-up day in Welcome will begin 8 a.m. Saturday on Campbell Street near the fire hall. This is for residents of Welcome only. Proof of residency will be checked, and items will have to be unloaded by residents. There is an appliance pick up that day and

they must have a sticker or tag attached.

Congratulations to Larry and Jane Fullerton of Welcome who will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday. Cards will reach them at PO Box 291, Welcome, MN 56181.

Circle of Faith parishes will resume in-person worship on July 5, following social distancing protocol. Trinity Lutheran Church in Welcome will begin at 10:30 a.m.; Waverly Lutheran Church north of Welcome will begin at 8:30 a.m.; St. Peter Lutheran Church in Ceylon will begin at 8:30 a.m.

There will be a blood drive in Welcome from noon to 6 p.m. July 7 at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ. Appointments are necessary to help follow social distancing protocols. Masks are also needed. Doing the Rapid Pass the day of the drive will help lessen the time spent at the reception area.

Welcome Summer Festival will be held July 17-19 as of this writing.

Martin County West school board, after much discussion, voted

4-3 to close the school building in Welcome. The school district and board plan to continue conversations as to the plans for the building as well as services and needs of the students of the Martin County West school district with the community and parents.
