Over the years, Memorial Day has become a big holiday weekend. It’s now the unofficial start of summer, rather than a day of tribute to the departed it was originally meant to be.

Even if we plan fun events for Memorial Day weekend, its important to stop long enough to bow our heads and pay respect to our departed loved ones, especially those who fell in battle while helping preserve America’s liberties.

Let us take time to pause long enough to say, “Thank you father for those who courageously gave their lives and those who bravely fight today.”

n

A Memorial Day drive-up breakfast by the Lewisville American Legion Auxiliary will be available 8-10 a.m. Monday at the Lewisville Legion.

They will serve scrambled eggs, sausage patties and baking powder biscuits. This will be delivered to your vehicle. Enjoy a delicious breakfast for a donation.

Happy 97th birthday to Arlys Halverson on May 23. Cards can be sent to Arlys at Box 293, Truman, MN 56088.
