Truman council reopens city park

TRUMAN — Thank you to those who donated cloth masks on April 25. Our fire department received more than 100 masks.

If you would still like to donate, contact an organization of your choice or Mayo Clinic Health System at (507) 238-8100 for a drop-off location.

Even though the doors at City Hall are locked, you can contact Thea, Sherry or Shannon from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday thru Friday at (507) 776-7951. You also can call this number after hours for an electrical or water emergency.

Writing to soldiers need not be limited to the holidays. Mail is important and uplifting to them. Consider joining an organization such as Soldiers Angels at Support our Troops or Operation Gratitude at https://www.operation-gratitude.com/express-your-thanks/write-letters/ to write deployed troops throughout the year.

Now that our stay-at-home order has been extended to May 18, consider cooking extra portions to offer to your neighbor, an elderly person or a low-income family. Alternatively, when getting take-out, buy an extra portion to give to them.

Mother’s Day is Sunday. Remember your mother, grandmother or special person. She is the sweetest gift from God.

There is no way we can ever really thank her for all she does for us, nevertheless we can remind ourselves of the various sacrifices she made while raising us. Happy Mother’s Day to all those special people.

The City Council has voted to open the city park, but the city will not conduct any sanitizing. The rest rooms will remain closed. If you have any questions, call City Hall at (507) 776-7951.
