Area schools offering lunches for children

CEYLON — Most of the news is what’s not happening because of the coronavirus.

There will be no cribbage tournament in Welcome today. The tournaments will resume in November.

Legends II will have take-out only and no specials. Off-sale and off-menu only until 8 p.m. Lunch is from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and dinner from 5-8 p.m. for take-outs. The menu is on the Facebook site. They are sorry for the inconvenience and wish that everyone will get well soon.

Circle of Faith parishes, including St. Peter Lutheran in Ceylon, will not have any activities or services until further notice.

Our Savior’s Lutheran and its dual parish, St. Paul’s in Wilbert, will not have any activities until April 1 for sure, and then will reassess the situation.

Area residents are asked to have individual devotions or watch videos on Facebook and other television services and to pray for the nation.

A special prayer session at 8 p.m. each day for one minute is advocated on Facebook.

Mayo Clinic Health System has a COVID-19 resource site at www. mayoclinichealthsystem.org/covid19. There is contact information and up-to-date information and what to do if you have symptoms (fever, cough and shortness of breath).

Area schools have lunch food stops available for students needing help with nutrition since they will not be in school.

Fairmont Area Schools will have a bus stop at 9 a.m. at the fire hall in Ceylon with two bags for lunch that day, and breakfast the next day.

Chartwell will prepare the lunches for students 18 years old and under, according to the USDA summer feeding guidelines.

Students must pick up the lunches and be prepared to provide their name.

Martin County West also has bus stops for its students.

In Ceylon, it will be 11:15 a.m. at the fire hall and two sites in Welcome. Students must pick up their meals.

The city has reminded residents not to flush anything but toilet paper as other items ruin the pumps and clog the water system. This is especially important during these at-home situations.

American Red Cross blood drive from 1-6 p.m. April 6 in Ceylon is still scheduled, as far as I know. The need for blood is still high. The Red Cross has established extra precautions to protect donors. Use Rapid Pass to expedite the time at the site.

For more information, contact them at redcrossblood.org, call (800) 733-2767) or text BLOODAPP to 90999.
