SHERBURN — As most of you are aware by now, nearly all events and activities have been cancelled or postponed for the next couple of weeks.

School, school events, church services and many other activities have all been put on hold.

If you have been planning to attend an event, it might be a good idea to call ahead or go online to see if it is happening, and most likely it is not.

Sherburn Lions Club prime rib supper scheduled for March 28 has been postponed. If you already bought tickets for the supper, you may go to the Lions Club member from whom you purchased the tickets and ask for a refund, or if you wish you may keep your tickets for a rescheduled date. If the supper is not rescheduled, you may, of course, still get your refund.

Sherburn indoor swimming pool is closed until further notice. Watch for an announcement regarding when the pool will once again open.

Martin County West kindergarten roundup is planned for 6:30 p.m. March 31 at the MCW/Sherburn Elementary School. You’re asked to arrive at 6:15 p.m. to turn in paperwork. If you have not yet received a registration packet and you have a child who will be attending kindergarten this fall at Martin County West, call Carolyn at (507) 764-4461.

Please remind friends and relatives that the Sherburn High School reunion will be held this summer from June 19-21. The reunion will be held in conjunction with the Sherburn Holiday Festival, and it includes all students who graduated from Sherburn High School through the year 1988.

The 1988 class was the last class to graduate before the school became known as Martin County West High School.

Just today I heard three different people give three different opinions on who we should blame for our current coronavirus epidemic: it’s the Democrats, the Republicans and the media.

I think there is no one to blame. If we remain calm, but cautious, we’ll all get through this together, and eventually get back to our normal lives once again. “This too shall pass.”
