Faribault County backs gun rights

BLUE EARTH — Faribault County commissioners have approved a resolution in support of the Second Amendment right to bear arms.

Brenda Baldwin appeared before the board this week representing a group of concerned citizens who had collected 668 signatures on a petition for a resolution to declare Faribault County a “Second Amendment Dedicated County.”

It took two votes, but commissioners unanimously passed an amended resolution.

“Dedicated” counties are also known as “sanctuary counties” that are committed to gun rights.

In other action, commissioners:

o Approved the purchase of a tractor for the Public Works Department for $65,000. They also approved the purchase of road groomer for $20,342.
