FFA breakfast today

SHERBURN — The Martin County West FFA breakfast scheduled for Thursday will instead be held 6-8 a.m. today at the high school in Sherburn.

The breakfast is for FFA members, their parents, school staff and invited businesses and sponsors. This meal is held each year during FFA Week, which is this week, but due to the state wrestling tournament Thursday, the breakfast was moved to today.

There will no school Thursday at all MCW schools due to the Red Bulls qualifying for the state wrestling tournament.

Friendship Club will meet 1:30 p.m. Monday at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn. The guest speaker will be Karen Koeder of Trimont. She is originally from the area but has spent a good portion of her life in Alaska. She is currently co-director at CREST and has been named a WCCO Good Neighbor for her volunteer work. After her presentation, refreshments will be served. Anyone interested is welcome to join this group for entertainment, learning, food and fellowship.

Martin County West class of 2020 will host a steak, shrimp and smoked pork chop supper from 4:30-8:30 p.m. March 7 at the Sherburn American Legion. You may buy your tickets in advance from any Martin County West senior class member or they will also be available at the door that night. Proceeds from the meal will help fund their class trip to Washington, D.C., this spring.

Make plans to attend the MCW spring play “Clue, on Stage” which will be held 7 p.m. March 6-7 at the Sherburn Theatre in Sherburn. This is a stage play based on the board game Clue, with all the familiar characters from a game we all played at one time or another. They try to determine who killed Mr. Boddy and with what weapon.

American Red Cross swimming lessons will be offered at the indoor swimming pool in Sherburn from March 9-20. Registration forms are available at all school offices.

Congratulations to Martin County Area junior Sabrina Segar who competed at the Class A state gymnastics meet on Saturday. She qualified for the meet on both the floor and vault. This is the third year she has qualified for the state meet.

Congratulations and best of luck to the Red Bulls wrestling team that qualified for the state wrestling tournament to be held at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.

The team tournament for the Red Bulls begins at 11 a.m. Thursday.

They also have nine individual wrestlers who qualified for the tournament. The individual portion of the tourney for the Red Bulls starts 9 a.m. Friday and continues through Saturday. Individuals competing are Jesse Potts, Jaxon Rohman, Blake Jagodzinske, Connor Simmonds, Cale Steuber, Payton Anderson, Miles Fitzgerald, Nathan Simmonds and Jacob Rahn.
