Breakfast fundraiser slated

CEYLON — Ceylon Fire Department Relief Association will host a pancake brunch to raise funds for equipment from 9 a.m. to noon Sunday at Legends II in Ceylon. The menu will include pancakes, French toast, sausage, ham, scrambled eggs and juice. This is an all-you-can-eat fundraiser. The cost is a donation.

This coming Wednesday is Ash Wednesday, which is the beginning of the Lenten season. Area churches are scheduling mid-week services.

St. Peter Lutheran Church in Ceylon will join the other Circle of Faith parishes for a joint service 6:30 p.m. that night at Trinity Lutheran Church in Welcome. Our Savior’s Lutheran Church members will join its dual congregation at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wilbert at 6:30 p.m.

The next mid-week services will be March 4.

All area residents are welcome to join these churches for the special Lenten services and regular services.

There will be a Red Cross blood drive from noon to 6 p.m. March 2 at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Welcome.

There also will be a blood drive on April 6 in Ceylon.

For more information or to make an appointment, contact the American Red Cross at (800) 733-2767, go online to www.redcrossblood.org or text BlOODAPP to 90999.

o March 10 — Township annual meetings and elections.

o April 6 — Blood drive in Ceylon.

o April 7 — Tuesday morning coffee hours begin in Trimont.

o April 12 — Easter holiday.

o April 18 — Ceylon Community Day.

o June 27 — Ceylon Summer Festival and all-school reunion.

o June 28 — St. Peter Lutheran Church 125th anniversary.

I am looking for signs of spring. A robin was sited north of Ceylon this last week. Can spring be far behind?
