Fairmont man facing felony charge

FAIRMONT — A Fairmont man is facing a felony charge in Martin County.

Dakota Joseph Haegeman, 25, has been charged with drug possession in the fifth degree, which carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

According to the complaint:

On Dec. 31, Fairmont police officers went to a residence to serve an arrest warrant on Haegeman. He was immediately placed under arrest. While Haegeman was being searched, he was asked if he had any meth on him.

Inside Haegeman’s coat pocket police found a plastic straw, two glass pipes and a plastic baggie that contained a crystal-like substance, which later tested positive for meth.

A criminal history check on Haegeman showed he had a prior gross misdemeanor fifth-degree controlled substance crime conviction and two felony fifth-degree controlled substance crime convictions in Martin County in 2017.
