Truman man facing domestic assault count

FAIRMONT — A Truman man is facing a felony charge in Martin County.

Nathan Lloyd Julin, 32, has been charged with domestic assault, which carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

According to the complaint:

On Nov. 24, a Truman police officer was dispatched to a residence in the 300 block of North Central Avenue on a report of a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, the officer spoke to a female party who was crying and visibly upset.

The woman explained that Julin had been smoking meth all night and then had run out. She indicated that at one point Julin “passed out” and spilled his beer. She said that when he woke up he was angry because she would not go get him more meth.

She said Julin began tearing up the house and throwing things. She said he threw a lamp at her that broke and cut her finger. She also said that during the argument Julin punched her on the left side of the face with a closed fist.

The officer observed a cut on the woman’s finger, but did not observe an injury to her face. She said Julin left the residence on foot when she called the police.

The officer also spoke with a male who said he was at the house and Julin had been smoking meth all night. The man said that when Julin ran out, he began accusing the man and the woman of stealing and smoking his meth. He said Julin then became violent and began breaking things, and assaulted the woman.

The officer later located Julin, who was arrested and transported to the Martin County jail.

Julin was advised of his rights and admitted to smoking meth with the other man and woman. He admitted he became angry, and began breaking things, but denied punching the woman.

A check on Julin’s criminal history shows a conviction for domestic assault in August, and a conviction for threats of violence in February 2016. Both are qualified domestic violence-related offenses.
