‘Spree’ to help children find gifts

TRUMAN — Lewisville American Legion Auxiliary soup and sandwich luncheon will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 14. They will serve a variety of soups and sandwiches, and have a bake sale.

Come to the Lewisville Legion and visit with Santa Claus.

Martin County Pork Producers Ambassador Scholarship is open to high school seniors and college students to age 21. The scholarship is available for any students whose family is part of the pork industry in Martin County or is pursuing an ag-related field.

Congressman Jim Hagedorn’s staff will hold mobile office hours from 10:30 a.m. to noon Friday in Truman City Council chambers. No appointments are necessary for any help you may need with a federal issue or agency.

Truman Museum Christmas open house will be 1-4 p.m. Friday.

The 24th annual cookie walk will be 8-10 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 102 N. Seventh Ave. E., in Truman. You can choose cookies, caramels, kringle, party mix, etc., and then pay for the items you choose by the pound. Containers will be provided.

You can also enjoy goodies along with cider and coffee for a donation.

This community event is a favorite for shoppers to stock up on Christmas baking.

A holiday craft and home business bazaar, along with a bake sale, will be 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Truman Community Building. You will be able to shop among 25 vendors. Lunch will be sponsored by Truman Pride.

St. John’s Lutheran Church of Antrim in rural Truman invites you to its fourth annual beef commercial meal from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday for a donation. Sunday school also will hold a craft/bake sale. Everyone is welcome.

Get into the Christmas spirit at the Truman Elementary Christmas concert that will be held 7 p.m. Monday.

Truman Active Living meets 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Truman Museum. They welcome your input.

Santa’s shopping spree for kids K-6 for Truman Public or parochial schools will be 3:30-5 p.m. Tuesday at the Truman Community Building. Gifts are 50 cents.

Please make out your list so your child can be prepared. Several adults will be available to help younger children choose gifts.

It is important kids have the learning experience by choosing their own gifts.

The shopping spree is sponsored by the Truman Sorority.

Please join the Truman Toys for Tots in helping needy children. Profinium and Elizabeth Chevrolet are collecting toys for underprivileged children in this community.

You can help by bringing an unwrapped new gift to the bank or dealership any time during regular business hours. Please drop off your gift or monetary donation at Profinium or Elizabeth Chevrolet by Wednesday so they get delivered in time for Christmas.

STEP light recycling program wants your old Christmas lights. Drop your old lights off at collection bins located at Truman City Hall, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Trinity Lutheran Church or the Prairieland facility in Truman. For more information , call (507) 238-4341.
