‘Grinchmas’ holiday party slated

SHERBURN — CREST is sponsoring a “Lunch and Learn” event beginning 11 a.m. today at the Senior Citizens Center in Sherburn. The program will focus on Christmas fun.

Following the presentation, a lunch of scalloped potatoes and ham, green bean casserole and assorted Christmas goodies will be served. Donations will be appreciated to help defray the cost of the meal.

Anyone interested is welcome to attend.

Delicious grilled burgers with all the trimmings will be served from 6-8 p.m. tonight at the Sherburn American Legion. All are invited.

And while you’re there, if you’re able to do so, please make a donation toward the roof fund at the Legion. A new roof is badly needed and they are asking for help from the community.

An after-prom party meeting will be held 7 p.m. tonight in the cafeteria at Martin County West Jr./Sr. High School in Sherburn.

Bank Midwest in Sherburn will host its annual holiday open house from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday. Come enjoy holiday treats and beverages with them.

Kids are invited to a “Grinchmas” holiday party from 9-11:30 a.m. Saturday at the elementary school in Sherburn. There will be crafts, games with prizes, photos with Santa and the Grinch, and a free meal served at 11 a.m.

After the meal, the children are invited to a free movie, the first “Frozen,” beginning at noon at the Sherburn Theatre.

Make sure your little ones don’t miss out on all the fun Saturday.

A pancake breakfast will be held 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday at the high school in Sherburn. Donations accepted. Everyone is invited.

Funds raised will help support the Sherburn-Dunnell all-school reunion that will be held during the holiday festival weekend in June.

Sherburn Legion Club and Sherburn Legion Auxiliary will hold a Christmas party Sunday for volunteers who helped work at steak fries and hamburger nights during the past year at the Legion.

A social hour will begin at 5 p.m., with the meal set to get underway at 6 p.m. Oyster stew and chili, sandwiches and a bar will be served.

This is their way of saying thank you to all those who have volunteered and made these events possible during 2019.

Regional Worship Center in Sherburn hosts a morning breakfast from 8-10 a.m. each Monday. Everyone is welcome to come for pancakes, eggs and coffee.

MCW all-school band concert will be held 7:30 p.m. Monday in the gymnasium at the high school in Sherburn. The public is invited.

It’s “Men’s Night” at 7 p.m. every Wednesday at the high school gym in Sherburn. Anyone wanting to get a little exercise is welcome.

During winter, there is hall walking at all Martin County West schools from 7-8 a.m. and 4-6 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Martin County West Community Education and Recreation is offering winter gymnastics lessons from Dec. 6-21 in the gym at the Welcome school. Lessons will be held twice a week, from 6-7 p.m. Fridays and 9-10 a.m. Saturdays. The fee is $36 and registration forms are available on the MCW website. If you have questions, call community education at (507) 764-2336.

If you would like to make a donation to the Sherburn/Welcome Police Department’s “Shop With a Cop” program, please send your donation to Officer Nicholas Smith by Friday.

Contributions may be mailed to Officer Smith at Sherburn Police Department, 21 E. First St., Sherburn, MN 56171 or dropped off at the police department.
