Sherburn man faces felony counts

FAIRMONT — A Sherburn man is facing felony charges in Martin County.

Ronald Dean Trueblood, 56, has been charged with three counts of criminal sexual conduct in the second degree. Each charge carries a maximum penalty of 25 years in prison and a $35,000 fine.

According to the complaint:

On Nov. 16, a Sherburn/Welcome police officer received a phone call from Trueblood, who indicated he wanted to turn himself in for child molestation. He said he would be at his residence in the 1000 block of 90th Avenue in rural Martin County, waiting for the police to arrive.

A Martin County Sheriff’s deputy attempted to contact Trueblood by phone. A relative of Trueblood’s answered the phone and said Trueblood had left the house and was standing outside. The relative said a 14-year-old female relative had disclosed that Trueblood had touched her inappropriately multiple times.

The child’s legal guardian confronted Trueblood, who admitted to touching the girl, as well as another 13-year-old female relative.

Deputies arrived and located Trueblood, who was transported to the Martin County jail. Trueblood was advised of his rights and agreed to speak with a deputy.

During the interview, Trueblood admitted to touching the 13-year-old on multiple occasions. Trueblood admitted he knew what he was doing, and also admitted to touching the 14-year-old in the same manner.

Both children would have been under 16 years of age at the time of the acts. Trueblood was in a position of authority over both.
