Opera House offers ‘Che Apalache’
FAIRMONT — Che Apalache will offer its mix of bluegrass and Latin when the group hits the stage at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Fairmont Opera House.
Che Apalache is a four-man string band based in Buenos Aires, with members from Argentina, Mexico and the United States.
The group’s founder is Joe Troop (fiddle), a North Carolinian multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter and composer who moved to Argentina in 2010. He taught bluegrass and old-time for a living. That is how he met Pau Barjau (banjo), Franco Martino (guitar) and Martin Bobrik (mandolin), his most dedicated students.
Che Apalache began as a bluegrass band, but eventually incorporated Latin American styles into its repertoire.
Tickets for Che Apalache are available from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday to Friday by calling (507) 238-4900 or online at fairmontoperahouse.org
