Trunk-or-treat set for Thursday

WELCOME -- It's almost the end of October. Time sure flies while the farmers and road crews wait for seasonable weather. Keep an eye out for snow in November.

Tuesday will be the last Tuesday morning coffee hour for this year. It will be held 8:30-10 a.m. at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Sherburn. Coffee hours will start up again next April in Trimont.

Next Thursday will be Halloween. Area children are invited to the second annual trunk-or-treat activities from 5:15-6:45 p.m. on North Dugan Street in Welcome, then at the Welcome Legion. There will be candy, games, food and crafts for the children.

Megan Gerhardt and Kylee Garbers spearheaded the project to provide a safe activity for local children on Halloween. They thank the city, the Legion and all the businesses, churches and individuals that have supported the idea.

Bring your child/children up for a fun and safe Halloween in Welcome.

A big welcome to new part-time police officer Carolyn Jacobson who will begin her duties this week.

Upcoming events include:

o The date to turn the clocks back one hour is Nov. 3.

o Annual turkey dinner from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 3 at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Welcome. There will be a charge with reduced charge for children, ages 6-12. Take-outs will be available.

Please be safe as you are harvesting and take special care as you drive on roads with slow moving vehicles on them.
