Burger bash to aid pool in Truman

TRUMAN — Heartland is sponsoring a coloring contest for children, ages 4-9, for Public Power Week. You can get your coloring page, entry form and rules on Heartlands Facebook page or at hcpd.com/contest.

Winners will receive movie/game prize packages. The contest ends Oct. 30.

Heartland is the electrical supplier to Truman.

Remember that the Truman Lions Club burger bash pool fundraiser will be Saturday.

It will begin with BINGO from 3-5 p.m., followed by the burger bash from 5-7 p.m. at which delicious burgers, beans, chips, condiments and a beverage will be served. Take-outs are available. At 7 p.m., the name of the garden shed winner will be drawn.

Lewisville Legion Auxiliary chicken supper will be 5-6:30 p.m. Sunday at the Lewisville Legion. Take-outs are available.

Truman City Council will meet 5:30 p.m. Monday in the meeting room at the fire hall in Truman. These meetings are open to the public, with a time set aside for questions/comments.

WANTED: Local youth, ages 14-21, for Fire Explorer Post 1905. You will meet 7 p.m. on the first Thursday of the month at the Truman Fire Hall. You will explore fire and EMS education with hands-on training on what to do in an emergency. There are no skill level requirements to join. There will be community involvement and it will look good on a resume. You will be advised by local firefighters and EMT people. If you would like more information, call Matt at (507) 217-3956.

A gluten-free pizza class with basic information and to make a pizza will by given by Laurie Sherman from 6-7:30 p.m. Oct. 30. You must register by Wednesday. You will need to bring a cookie sheet to take your gluten-free pizza home to freeze or bake.

The cost to make this gluten-free pizza with various toppings of your choice is $15 per pizza. To register, contact Courtney at (507) 327-6917, or Chelsey at (507) 776-2111.

Haunted houses, spider webs and spooky bracelets for kids, in grades kindergarten through sixth grade, will be held Oct. 29, with registration due by Oct. 25. It’s your annual Halloween craft party with snacks and drinks provided for a devilishly good time.

The cost is $5 and is limited to 12 participants.
