Faribault County commissioners set levy limit
BLUE EARTH — Faribault County commissioners on Tuesday approved a proposed 2020 budget and property tax levy.
Both had to be approved by Sept. 30.
The levy totals $11.95 million, a 5.7 percent increase from this year. It was unanimously approved by the five commissioners. Between now and the end of the year, the board may lower the levy but cannot increase it.
The proposed budget stands at $26.16 million in revenues and $26.15 million in expenditures.
In other matters, the board approved resolutions designating two former trunk highways as county roads.
Highway 254, which begins in Frost and runs north 4.8 miles to I-90, will now be known as County Road 17.
The road formerly known as Highway 253, a 6.56-mile stretch running from the intersection of County Road 2 in Bricelyn north to County Road 21, will be designated County Road 23.
