Fall beef fundraiser set for Sunday

TRUMAN — Truman firefighters’ fish fry fundraiser will be 4-8 p.m. Saturday at the Fire Hall. Come out for a great meal of batter-fried Alaskan pollock, cheesy hashbrowns, coleslaw, dinner roll, coffee and milk. Cost is a donation, with proceeds going to the fire equipment fund.

If you would like to register for fun with frames you must do so by Saturday. This is for ages kindergarten and older, to be held 4:15-5:15 p.m. Wednesday. The cost is $5 for you to decorate two 5-by-7 picture frames using paint and other types of craft supplies. Wear paint clothes as you may get messy. Truman Historical Association fall beef fundraiser will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at the Truman Community Building. Nancy Jo’s Catering is serving roast beef, mashed potatoes and gravy, candied carrots, corn, strawberry/pretzel salad, bread, chocolate or carrot cake, coffee and milk. Take-outs are available. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for ages 6-12 years. Children age 5 and younger eat for free.

National Play-Doh Day is Monday. If you are pre-K and older and would like to squish, smash, push, pull, twist and cut, then go to the home ec room from 4:15-5:15 p.m. Monday and you can have all this fun with Play-Doh. Cost is $2. Truman City Council will meet 5:30 p.m. Monday. The meeting will be in the Fire Hall meeting room.

Recycling Day is Wednesday. Your recycling container should be curbside by 7 a.m. with the front facing the street.

Second Harvest Heartland/NAPS will be 9:30-10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church. This is for eligible seniors 60 years and older. Pre-register at (800) 365-0270. You will receive a 30- to 35-pound box of food that is low in salt and sugar content.

Truman Public School will dismiss 2 p.m. Wednesday.

Jaguar homecoming shirts will be available in the Truman school office during school hours beginning Sept. 20. The cost is $12 or $14 for shirts 2XL or larger.

Trinity Lutheran church will hold “Growing in Faith Together” as a Wednesday after-school program beginning Sept. 18. Children ages pre-K to eighth grade can ride the bus to the church for this free program. They will provide snacks, homework help, games, stories, activities and adult mentors.
