Foursome face felony counts

FAIRMONT — Four Fairmont residents are facing felony charges in Martin County.

Jessica Dawn Cheri Sachsenmaier, 25; Tori Elizabeth Jean Quade, 30; and Ryan Joseph Jarrod Stetler, 27, have all been charged with drug possession in the third degree, which carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and $250,000 fine.

In addition, Stetler, along with Jeremiah Jacob Nye-Contreras, 37, faces charges of burglary, theft and possession of stolen property, each of which carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

According to the complaint:

On May 6, a Fairmont police officer was on patrol in the 900 block of East Fourth Street in Fairmont, watching the area because of reports of multiple break-ins at the storage lockers there. He conducted a traffic stop of Nye-Contreras, who was arrested for possession of a controlled substance.

During a follow-up interview, Nye-Contreras advised the officer that the person who had broken into the storage lockers was likely Stetler, who lives in the 1300 block of Albion Avenue in Fairmont. Nye-Contreras said he had caught Stetler breaking into one of the units about two weeks prior. He also said he had been at Stetler’s residence May 5 and observed a brown leather rifle case, tools and some jewelry.

Nye-Contreras later admitted he had entered the storage lockers and grabbed a brown backpack and a plastic tote. He said the locker had been partially opened, and Stetler had told him that he left some items in the locker and Nye-Contreras should pick them up. He also said Stetler had come to his house on May 5 driving Quade’s truck.

Nye-Contreras said he knew the items were stolen and gave the officer a description of the items. Based on information provided by Nye-Contreras, the officer obtained two search warrants, one for Quade’s vehicle and one for Stetler’s residence. The warrants were executed May 7.

During the course of the search, controlled substances were found. At the time, Quade, Stetler and Sachsenmaier were present and were detained. Stetler requested an attorney, while Quade and Sachsenmaier agreed to answer questions. Both acknowledged living at the residence.

The residence at 1380 Albion Ave. is situated between multiple city parks. Gomsrud Park is less than one block away. Across the street from the residence is the city dog park, Fairmont Aquatic Park and Cardinal Park.
