Memorial Day events set in Truman

Come to the Lewisville Legion for its Memorial Day breakfast from 6:30-9 a.m. Monday. They will serve scrambled eggs, sausage, toast and a beverage for a donation.

The annual Memorial Day program will begin 10 a.m. Monday in the auditorium at Truman Elementary School, with all members of the public invited.

The program will include the Truman Scouts, American Legion Post 115 and auxiliary, music by Armstrong Boulevard Brass Quintet. Prayer will be led by Pastor Merrill Davis. The address will be given by Mark Hansen.

A Memorial Day picnic will be held 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at the Truman Community Building. You can enjoy a pork loin sandwich, hotdog, salads, beans, chips, bars and a beverage for a free will donation.

This meal is sponsored by the Truman Pool, with all proceeds going to raising the deck at the pool.

If you would like to donate a salad for the picnic, let Faith Clow know at (507) 236-6817 and just bring to the community building by 11 a.m. that morning.

Tryouts for the stage masters summer play “101 Dalmatians” for kids in grades 3-8 will be held 6 p.m. Tuesday. Parents must attend tryouts with their child.

Camp will run June 10-21, with performances on June 21-22. Practices are from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday-Friday.

A 55+ Defensive Driving refresher class will be held 5:30-9:30 p.m. Wednesday. The fee is $22. Classes are held in the Truman School Board room. Enter through the main high school doors (No. 6) on the north side.

An open house bridal shower for Haley Amman, bride-to-be of Levi Ekstrom will be 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. June 1 in the fireside room at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Truman. Levi is the son of Keith and Cindy Ekstrom. The couple are registered at Pottery Barn and Target.

FFA officers for the 2019-2020 school year are: Presidents Brett Davis and Makayla Hall; Vice Presidents Kylee Bentz and Anika Jensen; Secretary Emma Ritz; Treasurer Tallin Cook; Sentinel Eden Studer; and Reporter Jayme Balcom.
