Welcome enjoyed a good mystery

WELCOME — Welcome area residents recently got to enjoy some good theater for a good cause.

The “Murder at the Welcome Water Park” fundraiser for the Welcome Summer Festival was presented at the Welcome Legion to a full house.

Tables of four or six friends enjoyed a three-course meal catered by Gerhardt’s and were entertained by the Murders 4 Fun entourage, including two Welcome talents, Beth Mulso and Zach Hansen.

The mixture of comedy and mystery entertained more than 80 in the audience, or 25 percent more than last year, according to Summer Festival organizers.

The audience got to mingle with the suspects/actors as they enjoyed appetizers and to admire the waterpark/palm tree/Hawaiian decorations.

The cast of characters and the storyline were supplied to each audience member, along with a solution form for them to fill out.

The author/director entertained the audience with lighthearted banter about the suspects and the “Welcome Water Park.” The audience let him know that the new water tower and the Legion were out of bounds for things to be demolished to make way for the “Welcome Water Park” proposed by the play.

The Welcome Summer Festival will be held July 20.

The Summer Festival committee has been busy fundraising through Burger Bashes and more. Costs for festival entertainment and ball tournaments are high but attract people to town.
