‘One Night’ ready to play

FAIRMONT — “One Night in Memphis” will take to the Fairmont Opera House stage at 7:30 p.m. March 30.

The group spotlights songs by rock and roll royalty — Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Elvis Presley.

According to the group: Dec. 4, 1956, was a wonderful occasion for rock and roll. Wonderful because it was a night that Presley, Perkins, Lewis and Cash all sharing a microphone, jamming in a studio and leaving behind — unknown to them — a live recording of it for posterity. The recording stands as a monument to four American legends in their prime.

“One Night in Memphis,” created and directed by John Mueller, is a tribute to the four legendary Sun Records recording artists. It stars former cast members of the Broadway show “Million Dollar Quartet.”

The show features more than 90 minutes of rockabilly, country, gospel and 1950s rock and roll.

Tickets for “One Night in Memphis” are available at fairmontoperahouse.org or by calling (507) 238-4900. Office hours are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday. Everyone is welcome.
