Hy-Vee has new leader

FAIRMONT — Aaron Speltz is happy to be in Fairmont.

Having recently been named the new store manager at Hy-Vee, Speltz said he and his family enjoy the area and are not looking to relocate anytime soon.

Speltz shared about his family and how he came to work in Fairmont.

“I was born and raised in Minnesota,” he said. “I’ve got a wife, Amanda; we’ve been married six years and we have two kids. My son Blake is 2, and my daughter Alayna is 4. My wife has some family in the Albert Lea and we plan on being here for a while.”

Speltz also shared some of his education and career history.

“I came from Rochester, where I was an assistant for a few years,” he said. “Windom was my first assignment after that and I was there for two years before I came here.”

“I got a business degree from Winona State and before that I spent four years in the Navy. I worked at the same store in Rochester for my entire career. I started back there in 1996 when I was back in high school and I was there until 2000, then I left for eight years. So it was four in the Navy and then four in school for my degree.

“After that I came back to Hy-Vee in about 2009, so I’ve been back with the company for nine years.

“We enjoy [Fairmont] and we have a lot of relatives in the area, so we’re setting up shop and we’ll be here for the long haul.

“We love it here. The opportunity with the lakes and walking paths and everything in the summer time and everything we’ve been hearing from customers and employees, it’s just a great town to be in. There’s a lot of opportunity and a lot of growth potential for the town.”
