‘Bear hunt’ coming up

TRUMAN — Truman Public Library has a winter reading program for adults that is running until Feb. 28. Complete the program by earning BINGO on your card. Prizes can be earned.

This is a free and fun way to take the winter blues away.

Come join the Truman Area Community Band that is open to persons of all ages. It meets 7-8 p.m. Wednesdays in the Truman High School band and choir hall. Use the activities entrance on the west side.

This is led by high school music director Dave Stordahlen. If you need an instrument, contact him at stordalend@truman.k12.mn.us. He may have one for you to borrow.

Time for adult open volleyball from 7-9 p.m. Sundays in the Truman High School gym. No need to register, just show up and they will divide you up into teams. The cost is $2 per person.

If you’re in pre-kindergarten to second grade and will be going on a bear hunt with the Prairie Ecology Bus, please register by Friday.

The event will be held 4-5 p.m. Tuesday in the school cafeteria. The cost is $8 per child. You will create your own binoculars to follow a wild animal using tracks and animal scat to stay on the trail.

Students in pre-kindergarten and up are needed to show their school spirit.

They will meet in the home ec room to get creative and design Truman Jaguar school spirit pennants and banners to be displayed in the school hallways for everyone to enjoy.

There is no charge but please register by Friday so enough supplies are available.

Join them 4:30-5:30 p.m. Wednesday to create your school spirit.

All senior citizens are welcome to join in on the fun playing cards or bean bags from 1-4 p.m. Mondays at the Truman Community Building. If you have and questions, call Charlotte Dobie at (507) 776-2391.

Wednesday is recycling day. All recycling must be inside containers

Senior citizens can get free food in Truman from Second Harvest Heartland and the Nutrition Assistance Program for Seniors.

If you are 60 years and older and meet eligibility requirements, please pre-register at (800) 365-0270.

You can pick up your food from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 102 Seventh Ave. East, Truman.

Essential oils with Nikki Meyer as instructor will be held 7-7:45 p.m. Jan. 17 in the home ec room. Attendees will take home a jar of “breathe easy” chest rub and a roller bottle. The cost is $20 per person.

Students in grades 2-6 can come join hunters of the sky by Prairie Ecology Bus. You must register by Jan. 17 to learn about hawks, eagles and owls. The class will be held 4-5 p.m. Jan. 24 in the Truman High School cafeteria.
