SHERBURN — The monthly steak and shrimp fry will be held 5:30-8:30 p.m. Saturday at the Sherburn American Legion. They will serve steak, shrimp, pork chop or a combo meal, along with a baked potato, garlic toast and salad bar. Everyone is welcome.

Early Childhood Family Education classes will be offered in Sherburn and Welcome during January, February and March.

There is an evening class that is offered from 4:45-6 p.m. Tuesdays, beginning Jan. 15 through March 26 in the preschool room at Sherburn Elementary School. The cost is $30 per family.

Scholarships are available for families who qualify.

There also will be a morning class from 9-11 a.m. Fridays, Jan. 25 to March 29, in the preschool room at the Welcome School. The classes are for children, 2 years of age before Sept. 30, through pre-kindergarten. They will have activities for parents and children to do together. Parents also will have the opportunity to meet as a group to discuss their concerns and share joys of parenting.

Also from January to March, there will be a “Baby and Me” class for youngsters, newborn to 24 months old and their parents, from 10:15-11 a.m. Fridays beginning Jan. 25, in the Welcome preschool room. The class is free to all participants.

Sibling care is also offered free of charge. Just notify them of your need for sibling care when you register for the class.

Take advantage of one of the fitness classes by Mary that are offered Tuesdays and Thursdays in the music room at the Martin County West Elementary School in Sherburn. There is gentle yoga at 4:15 p.m. Tuesdays, chair yoga at 3:40 p.m. Thursdays and Pilates/Barre at 4:40 p.m. Thursdays. Punch passes are available. There is open gym from 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the high school gymnasium in Sherburn. Also, men’s night is offered at 7 p.m. Wednesdays in the gym.

There will be no school for Martin County West students on Jan. 21 because of a teacher workshop that day.

Senior dining is held each week at 11:30 a.m. Monday through Friday at Temperance Lake Ridge in Sherburn. The cost is $6.50.
