Lights will be judged tonight

CEYLON — There will be a cribbage tournament beginning with registration at 1:15 p.m. today and play to follow at the Welcome Legion. Anyone interested in playing cribbage is welcome.

These tournaments are held the second Saturday each month in Ceylon, and the third Saturday in Welcome. It’s a fun way to spend the afternoon.

Remember to leave your Christmas lights on tonight as they will be judged.

Thank you for decorating and making the town festive for the season.

Thank you to the city for supplying utility credit prizes.

Four Corner Birthday Club will meet for its Christmas party 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the home of Jean Beckendorf in Welcome. Secret Pals will be revealed.

This club has members from the four townships (Tenhassen, Lake Belt, Rolling Green and Manyaska), hence the name of the club.

Ceylon Fire Department and EMS personnel were awarded a Lucas 3 CPR device through a Minnesota Department of Health grant. The personnel have been trained to use this device, which does the CPR mechanically, adequately and full time.

Since Ceylon is a non-transport department, the Sherburn or Fairmont ambulance must pick up calls. The device may save a life if CPR is needed.

Congratulations to them and thanks for applying for the grant. It’s good to know this is available.

In upcoming events, Legends 2 in Ceylon will host fish fry suppers, reminiscent of the Legion fish fries from years ago, beginning at 5 p.m. the second Friday in January, February and March.

It also will host “White Sidewalls” on Feb 9.
