Pork Patty feed on Sept. 8

CEYLON — The last coffee hours for the month of August at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn will be held 8:30-10 a.m. Tuesday morning. In September the coffee hours will be at St. Paul’s

United Church of Christ in Welcome. Join friends and neighbors for good brew, goodies and fellowship.

Circle of Faith Parishes will have one more 6:30 p.m. Wednesday evening summer service at Trinity Lutheran Church in Welcome. In September, the parishes will go back to their usual service times: St. Peter at 8:30 a.m. Sundays while Trinity Lutheran and Waverly Lutheran will be 10:30 a.m. on Sundays. Area residents are invited to join them for services.

There will be a pork patty feed to benefit the Rod Jahnke family from 3-7 p.m. Sept. 8, at Legends 2 in Ceylon. Rod was injured on June 7, and needed surgery to reattach his hamstring to his hip. He may require more surgery to repair a knee. Since he’s unable to work for at least a year and doesn’t have disability insurance, his income isn’t coming in for the family. An account has been set up at Bank Midwest in Fairmont for those who would like to contribute and/or will not be able to attend the benefit. Rod has been a firefighter in Ceylon for 19 years.

Our Savior’s Lutheran Church will have Bible study 9:30 a.m. every Tuesday beginning Sept. 11. Area residents are invited to join them.
