BLUE EARTH — Faribault County authorities are investigating an attempted abduction that occurred at the eastbound Interstate 90 rest area near Blue Earth.

According to a press release issued Monday, sheriff’s deputies were dispatched at 4:12 p.m. Friday to the rest area on a report of an assault. They spoke with a 43-year-old woman from Corpus Christi, Texas, who said that while she was walking on a trail south of the rest stop, she encountered a male who attempted to grab her.

The woman was able to fight off the man and return to the rest area, where she called 911.

She described the man as about 6 feet tall with a muscular build. She said he had numerous tattoos, including a scorpion on his right forearm.

Authorities searched the area, including with a K9 unit and a Minnesota State Patrol helicopter. The suspect was not located.
