FAIRMONT – United Hospital District and Smart Clinic of Fairmont have announced that UHD has completed the acquistion of Smart Clinic.

The Smart Clinic location at Five Lakes Centre in Fairmont will close Friday. Dr. Timothy Bachenberg, owner of Smart Clinic, will join UHD and begin seeing patients at the UHD clinic at 221 East First Street in downtown Fairmont on July 19.

To make appointments with Bachenberg, patients are advised to call the UHD Fairmont Clinic at (507) 238-1287.

“This new arrangement with UHD will allow me to better serve the needs of my patients in Fairmont and the surrounding communities,” Bachenberg said in a press release. “This new venture will also provide Smart Clinic patients access to UHD’s various specialties and resources offered here in Fairmont.”

UHD said the acquisition helps it serve patients close to home.

“This is an investment in our local health care and represents an important strategic opportunity to offer a wider array of services to the people of Fairmont and the surrounding communities, closer to home,” said Rich Ash, CEO of UHD.
