Students earn academic honor

SHERBURN — Don’t forget there’s a mystery “Lunch and Learn” hosted by CREST beginning at 11 a.m. today at the Senior Citizen’s Center in Sherburn. A “mystery” lunch will be served after the presentation. All are welcome.

Grilled burgers will be served from 6-8 p.m. tonight at the Sherburn American Legion. Everyone is welcome.

Sherburn Lions Club will host “Prime Rib Night” from 5-8 p.m. Saturday at the Sherburn American Legion. Tickets in advance cost $17 and can be purchased from any Lions Club member, Bank Midwest in Sherburn or Amborn Lumber in Sherburn. Tickets also will be available at the door Saturday evening for $20.

Martin County West drama department will present its spring play “Arsenic and Old Lace” this weekend at the Sherburn Theatre.

The play is a deep, dark comedy about family, genetic traits and misguided charity. Performances will be 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 2 p.m. Sunday.

Concessions will be available, as well as a bake sale in the theatre lobby.

Make time to attend this play presented by our young MCW actors.

Martin Luther High School semi-annual rummage and bake sake will be held 4-8 p.m. Thursday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at the school gym in Northrop.

Sherburn American Legion Auxiliary will meet 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Sherburn Legion Club. All members are invited and encouraged to attend.

Trinity Lutheran Church in Trimont is hosting coffee hour from 8:30-10 a.m. each Tuesday in April. Everyone is welcome to join them for a time of food and fellowship.

There will be an open house for each of the three MCW preschools on April 12. Open houses will be held 4-5 p.m. in Welcome, 4:30-6 p.m. in Sherburn and 6-7 p.m. in Trimont.

If you have a 3- or 4-year-old child and are interested in having them attend school this fall, then come to the open house, meet the teachers and check out the classrooms.

MCW seniors and juniors were inducted into the National Honor Society at a ceremony held March 21, at the high school in Sherburn. Fifteen members of the senior class and 14 juniors were named to the NHS.

Seniors inducted include: Annie Baker, Emma Behrends, Lindsey Bettin, Tanner Bettin, Renae Eckmann, Calleigh Hillmer, Kooper Janssen, Trent Kennedy, Lexie Lange, Emelia Melson, Jordan Stahl, Maia Taylor, Erin Tlam, Skylar Tumbleson and Colby Williamson.

Junior class members inducted were: Abby Bachenberg, Katie Ebeling, Nicholas Johnson, Carson Kahler, Danielle Nelson, Cheyenne Owens, Nicholas Potthoff, Melissa Revland, Jayda Rowen, Alexi Schafer, Karlee Thiesse, Sierra Tumbleson, Madelyn Wade and Alyssa Williamson.
