Mayo hires OB-GYN provider
FAIRMONT — Dr. Jonathan Buchholz is the newest member of the obstetrics and gynecology team at Mayo Clinic Health System in Fairmont.
As an OB-GYN provider, Buchholz offers women’s health services, including preventive health screenings, menstrual concerns, pelvic symptoms or pain and prenatal care. He started seeing patients Aug. 29.
Originally from South Dakota, Buchholz completed his training at Sanford School of Medicine in Sioux Falls. He later finished his internship and, most recently, his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, La. He is a member of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Buchholz says his professional interests include family planning, contraception, infertility, and pregnancy with pre-existing hypertension or diabetes.

Deadline nears for applications
JACKSON — The next deadline for Operation Round Up funds from Federated Rural Electric’s Trust Board is Sept. 29.
Operation Round Up involves about 80 percent of Federated’s members in Jackson and Martin counties. They allow their monthly electric bills to be rounded up to the nearest dollar amount. The “rounded up” change goes into a trust fund. An independent trust board evaluates local funding requests and distributes the funds.

Since 1995, Federated’s Trust Board has distributed more than $544,000 to local organizations, including senior dining, hospice, fire/ambulance departments and as high school scholarships.
Organizations that serve Federated members in Jackson or Martin counties can request funds for projects involving:
o community service
o community leadership programs
o disaster relief
o environmental programs
o youth education
o emergency-energy assistance.
