Alex W. Rosa, 36, of Windom was convicted on a felony charge of check forgery-offer/possess with intent to defraud; fined $2,525, restitution $1,640, commit to Commissioner of Corrections 15 months, stayed 5 years, sentenced to jail 21 days, credit for time served 21 days, five years supervised probation, contact probation officer as directed, pay restitution, write letter of apology, don’t leave Minnesota without written court approval, complete treatment and follow recommendations, complete the South Oaks gambling screen as directed by supervising agent and follow all recommendations of assessment, complete a cognitive-based program such as Thinking for a Change as directed by supervising agent, no alcohol/controlled substance use with the exception of prescribed medications, no alcohol/controlled substance possession with the exception of prescribed medications, random testing, provide proof of medication to supervising agent, follow all state and federal criminal laws, contact probation agent within 72 hours if charged with a new crime; are in contact with law enforcement; if changes address, employment, or telephone number, cooperate with search of person, residence, vehicle, workplace, property, etc. by probation officer, give a DNA sample when directed, sign releases of information as directed, don’t use/possess firearms, ammunition, or explosives, don’t register to vote until discharged from probation and civil rights are fully restored.

Heidi S. Spidahl, 50, of Sherburn was convicted of uninsured vehicle-owner violation; fined $215.18, restitution $215.18, sentenced to jail 10 days, stayed 10 days for one year, one year unsupervised probation, pay restitution before 5/31/23 to City of Fairmont before fees, fines and surcharges, no same or similar.

Shantel K. Penkaty, 29, of Ceylon was convicted of driving after revocation; fined $285, sentenced to jail 90 days, stayed 90 days for six months, six months unsupervised probation, no same or similar. Also convicted of no Minnesota drivers license; fined $185, sentenced to jail 90 days, stayed 90 days for six months, six months unsupervised probation, no same or similar. Additional charges of alter/deface motor vehicle registration of unregistered vehicle, license plates required on front and rear of vehicle, no proof of motor vehicle insurance, display tabs of another vehicle, and failure of driver to carry proof of insurance when operating a vehicle, were all dismissed.

Amy L. Baumgart, 42, of Fairmont was convicted of uninsured vehicle-owner violation; fined $485, sentenced to jail 365 days, stayed 362 days for one year, credit for time served three days, one year unsupervised probation, no same or similar. Additional charge of driving after cancellation was dismissed.

Lloyd S. Nickel, 53, of Sioux Falls, S.D. received a stay of adjudication on a charge of speeding; fined $125, six months unsupervised probation, no same or similar.

Jose E. Valdes Cardenas, 37, of Conger had a charge of no Minnesota drivers license continued for dismissal; six months unsupervised probation, no same or similar.
