Author presentation, signing

Jeffrey M. Sauve, an award-winning writer and historian based in Minnesota, will have a presentation, book signing and a feature of his book, "Wheels of Murder," at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 7, at the Martin County Historical Society Pioneer Museum in Fairmont. The book recounts the bank robbery on Oct. 7, 1896, in Sherburn. Sauve has contributed numerous articles to regional magazines, local historical societies, and museums. All are welcome to attend.

Weird Science Camp

Northern Star Scouting will host the Weird Science Camp from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 10, at Cedar Point Scout Camp in Fairmont. Activities include Jamie and The Rad Zoo Live Reptiles and Amphibians program, Dazzling Dave Yo-Yo Shows and Workshops, elephant toothpaste, water rockets, BB guns, archery, lava lamps, walking water rainbow, marshmallow catapults, static electricity lab and more. Veterans Fundraiser

The Fairmont Area Knights of Columbus 4th Degree Assembly 551 will host the Veterans Fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 11, at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Fairmont. Burgers, fixings, coleslaw, beans, chips, dessert and beverages will be served. Door prizes, raffles, and a cash bar will be available. Tickets cost $13 pre-sale and $15 at the door for adults, $12 for veterans and spouses/significant others of veterans, $10 for children ages 6 to 10, and free for children ages 5 and under. The event proceeds will support the Veterans Assistance Fund.
