Community Reads panel, activity
The 2026 Community Reads Panel and children's screen-free activity will be at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 6, at the Martin County Library in Fairmont. School administrators, educators, school board members and students will discuss topics from the part-graphic-novel “The Amazing Generation: Your Guide to Fun and Freedom in a Screen-filled World” by Jonathan Haidt and Catherine Price and illustrated by Cynthia Yuan Cheng. Fairmont Cancer Support Group
Mayo Clinic Health System cancer support group will meet from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 6, at the Lutz Cancer Center in Fairmont. Individuals who have received a cancer diagnosis in their lives and caregivers are welcome to attend.
CER Tiny Tots Sports Camp
Tiny Tots Sports Camp for children ages 3 to 5 who are accompanied by a guardian will be from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 12, Wednesday, Oct. 21, Monday, Oct. 26 and Wednesday, Oct. 28, at the Little Cardinal Gymnasium at Fairmont Elementary School. The program prepares children for organized sports in a fun environment. Parents and guardians will interact with their child as they learn aspects of hand-eye coordination, balance, throwing, catching, locomotor skills, juggling, rhythms, muscle memory, kicking, jumping and basic movement skills. This camp offers a variety of sports including soccer, t-ball, basketball, volleyball, softball and rhythms, while playing with others and making friendships along the way. Fee: $25. Registration is required, costs $25, closes Monday, Oct. 5 and can be completed on the Fairmont Community Education and Recreation (CER) webstore, fairmont.k12.mn.us/o/cer.
