Kiwanis Club to meet
Early Risers Kiwanis Club of Fairmont will meet for breakfast at 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 19, at The Ranch restaurant in Fairmont. A meeting at 6:50 a.m. will follow. The meeting's speaker will be SMMPA Energy Services Representative Dustin Maddy, who is working with Fairmont Public Utilities. Maddy will work with local businesses to connect customers with energy-saving opportunities, available rebates and solutions that help improve efficiency and reduce operating costs. All are welcome to attend.
Recovery Day at RIM
Recovery Day at Recovery in Motion (RIM) will be from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 22, at Recovery in Motion in Fairmont. Classic Boat Show/Vintage Market
Classic Boat Show and Vintage Market, a fundraiser for the Red Rock Center for the Arts in Fairmont, will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 22, at The Marina Lodge Lakeside Pub and Provisions and Sylvania Park in Fairmont. The event includes vintage vendors, classic boat show, music and an auction for artist-designed boat oars.
Fairmont Farmers Market

Martin Co. Fair Disability Awareness/John Deere Day
Disability Awareness Day and John Deere Day are on Thursday, Aug. 20. Buildings are open from noon to 9 p.m. Midway opens at 3 p.m. 4-H livestock demonstrations will be at 8 a.m., Martin County FFA livestock will be at 8 a.m. at the livestock arena, 4-H and FFA dairy cow and dairy goat shows will be at 9 a.m. at the Kietzer Arena, 4-H and open class beef show will be at 11 a.m. at the livestock arena, FFA rabbit show will be at 11 a.m. at the rabbit/poultry barn, tractor show will be from noon to 5 p.m., 4-H demonstrations and performing arts will be from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Bank Midwest building, Disability Day presentation will be from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Bank Midwest building stage, tractor parade will be at 3 p.m., 4-H auction deadline will be at 3:30 p.m., deadline to accept Minnesota State Fair trips will be at 3:30 p.m., Timberworks LumberJack Show will be at 4, 6 and 8 p.m., premier showmanship contest will be at 4 p.m. at the livestock arena, open class and FFA horses will be entered from 4 to 6 p.m., FFA activities will be from 4 to 7 p.m. in the grain bin, Minnesota State Fair meeting will be at 6 p.m. at the livestock arena, puzzle challenge will be at 6 p.m. at the Bank Midwest building, 4-H auction sign-up deadline will be at 6:30 p.m., Colton Dixon will perform at 7:30 p.m. at the park stage and Blue Dirt Road will perform from 9:30 p.m. to midnight in the beer garden.
