FCH retirees for lunch
The Fairmont Community Hospital (FCH) retirees will meet for lunch at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 11, at The Ranch restaurant in Fairmont. All are welcome to attend.
PSQG to meet
The Prairie Star Quilt Guild (PSQG) will meet on Monday, May 11, at the Fairmont Evangelical Covenant Church. The Quilt Board will meet at 12:30 p.m. The regular members will meet at 1 p.m. The meeting includes a Trash to Treasure event. Members are asked to bring any unwanted fabric and sewing-related items for free-will sale and take home someone else’s treasure. Sew and Share will follow. Fairmont Service Club to meet
The Fairmont Service Club will meet at noon on Tuesday, May 12, at the Best Western hotel in Fairmont. The meeting’s speaker will be Curtis Frank of Healing Hearts. All are welcome to attend.
MCHS veteran presentation
A free Martin County veteran presentation to feature Jim Simser’s military experiences will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 12, at the Martin County Historical Society (MCHS) Pioneer Museum. All are welcome to attend. For additional information, contact MCHS at (507) 235-5178.
Fairmont Safe Routes To School
Fairmont Safe Routes to School (SRTS) will be on Tuesday, May 12. SRTS provides four safe routes for children to get active by walking and biking to school one day a week during the fall and spring. Walkers and bikers are brought to their respective schools by crosswalk guards and adult volunteers along safe routes. The chaperoned routes will begin at the following locations: Route 1, Corner of Day Street and South Orient at 7:45 a.m., Route 2 at the Fairmont Aquatic Park at 7:30 a.m., Route 3 at St Paul Lutheran School Playground at 7:40 a.m., and Route 4 at Grace Lutheran Church at 7:30 a.m. The beginning locations of each route are also designated SRTS Safe Zones. Parents are encouraged to use the drop points to promote walking for fitness and avoid the congestion at Fairmont Elementary School (FES). For additional information, contact CER at (507) 235-3141.
CER Social Media Marketing
A social media marketing class for businesses will be from noon to 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 14, on Zoom. Learn how to effectively reach your target audience, increase brand awareness and drive engagement across major social media platforms. CER Flour Power
A class to transform whole grains into bread will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 19, in Room 135 at the Southern Minnesota Educational Campus in Fairmont. The class will show participants how to use a grain mill, select grains and prepare nutrient-rich loaves. Participants will explore a variety of grains, taste freshly-milled bread and gain practical skills they can use at home.
