Cancer Support Group
The Lutz Cancer Center in Fairmont will offer a Cancer Support Group at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 5, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Fairmont. This is a monthly support group for patients from any community who have received a cancer diagnosis at any point in their lives. The speaker of the month will be dietician Corrinna Lenort, RDN, LD. Attendees may share experiences and learn about coping with the challenges of cancer. Caregivers are welcome to attend.
Garden Club to meet
The City of Lakes Garden Club will meet at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6, at 1212 260th Avenue in Granada. There will be a business meeting. A report will be given on “Companion Plants for Your Vegetable Garden”. The club will work on one of its civic projects. Bring greeting cards to the meeting. Junk Journals at Fmt library
A Junk Journal drop-in event for adults will be from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6, at the Martin County Library in Fairmont. Adults can drop in to learn and build a junk journal over time. ACE Day
The Fairmont Area Chamber of Commerce will host Area Career Exploration (ACE) Day from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6, at Fairmont High School (FHS). Sophomore students can complete a career interest survey, meet with businesses aligned to their interests, visit business and career exploration booths and participate in an Interactive Career Game Show in the Performing Arts Center at FHS. Businesses can connect directly with students exploring career options, promote industry, share insight on skills, education and training, recruit for summer jobs, internships or permanent positions, and support workforce development in communities. Martin Co. Collection for Lamps/Ballasts
