Early Risers Kiwanis Pancake Supper
Early Risers Kiwanis Club of Fairmont will have an all-you-can-eat Early Risers Kiwanis Pancake Supper from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Monday, May 4, at Knights of Columbus Hall in Fairmont. Pancakes, sausage, fruit, milk and coffee will be served. Pre-sale tickets cost $7 for adults, $4 for children 12 and under and are sold at State Bank of Fairmont and Minuteman Press. At-the-door tickets cost $8 for adults, and $4.50 for children 12 and under. Proceeds will support the Fairmont High School Robotics Team.
Volunteer at CREST
Caregiver Response Effort and Service Team (CREST) in Fairmont is accepting CREST volunteers. The duties of CREST volunteers include speaking on the phone with homebound seniors, driving seniors to errands and trips, light housekeeping, meal preparation, budget management, visiting and other tasks. S&S Defense for Permit to Carry class
S&S Defense will host a class, Multi-State Permit to Carry-Concealed Carry and Home Defense Fundamentals, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 2, at Genesis Classical Academy in Winnebago. The class will cover the basics of self-defense, legal aspects of carrying a handgun, and the aftermath of a self-defense situation. The class is divided between a classroom portion and a live-fire portion at Center Creek Gun Club. Lunch will be provided. Federated for Kilen Woods Clean-Up Day
Federated Rural Electric in Jackson will sponsor a clean-up day on Saturday, May 2, at Kilen Woods State Park, north of Lakefield. Volunteers will pick up litter on hiking trails, trim branches, scoop out campfire pits, rake tent sites and campground areas, paint amphitheater seats and sign posts, clean the picnic shelter, bathroom and office building, pick up fallen branches, replace picnic tabletops and enjoy hot dogs, chips and cookies for lunch. All ages are welcome. Register by noon on Thursday, April 30, so accommodations can be made.
