Fairmont Safe Routes To School

Fairmont Safe Routes to School (SRTS) will begin on Tuesday, April 21. SRTS provides four safe routes for children to get active by walking and biking to school one day a week during the fall and spring. Walkers and bikers are brought to their respective schools by crosswalk guards and adult volunteers along safe routes. The chaperoned routes will begin at the following locations: Route 1, Corner of Day Street and South Orient at 7:45 a.m., Route 2 at the Fairmont Aquatic Park at 7:30 a.m., Route 3 at St Paul Lutheran School Playground at 7:40 a.m., and Route 4 at Grace Lutheran Church at 7:30 a.m. The beginning locations of each route are also designated SRTS Safe Zones. Parents are encouraged to use the drop points to promote walking for fitness and avoid the congestion at Fairmont Elementary School (FES). For additional information, contact CER at (507) 235-3141.

Play Café brewing at Fmt library

Play Café will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 21, at the Martin County Library in Fairmont. Enjoy playtime that encourages growth and learning for children ages zero to five and their caregivers. For additional information, contact the Martin County Library at (507) 238-4207.

CER Mini Cookie Masters

Fairmont Community Education and Recreation (CER) will offer Mini Cookie Masters for ages six and up from 4 to 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 28, in Room 135 at the Southern Minnesota Educational Campus (SMEC) in Fairmont. Children will learn how to decorate cookies with colorful icing and lots of creativity. Each child will decorate six cookies with a spring theme. Cookies will be packaged for children to take home.
