Sherburn Library open house

The Sherburn Library will host an open house from 2 to 5 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 2. Come and see the new library space, located inside City Hall in the former Senior Dining Center in Sherburn.

CER Elementary Dance Clinic

The Fairmont Dance Team will host an Elementary Dance Clinic from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 15, in the Fairmont High School’s (FHS) main gymnasium. The dancers will perform at halftime of the B-squad basketball game on Friday, Jan. 16, at FHS. Fee includes a snack and a t-shirt. CER Learn to Skate/Play Hockey

Learn to Skate and Learn to Play Hockey for children ages 3 to 12 will be from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. on Wednesdays from Jan. 14 to Feb. 18 at the Martin County Arena in Fairmont. Once children show confidence and are comfortable on ice, they may switch to Learn to Play Hockey if the parent prefers. A free t-shirt will be given to all participants. Registration is required, costs $63, closes Wednesday, Dec. 31 and can be completed on the CER webstore. All equipment can be picked up from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 7 at the Martin County Arena. CER Snowmobile performance course

Join Instructor Isaac Wallace as he instructs a one-day review and riding snowmobile performance course at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 3 at the Fairmont Elementary School. Students must complete the online course: Official Minnesota Snowmobile Safety Course, located at SNOWMOBILEcourse.com (the fee for the course is $34.95). Once they complete the online course, students print out a “youth follow-up voucher” and bring a copy of their birth certificate. Students will not be allowed to participate in the classroom review and performance test unless they have completed the Online Snowmobile Safety Course. The parent or guardian must accompany the youth to sign the waiver. Each student must have proper attire: helmet, gloves, snow pants, jacket, and boots. A snowmobile will be available. Youth must be 11 years old by the date of the class attended. All residents of Minnesota born after Dec. 31, 1976, MUST have a snowmobile safety certificate to operate a snowmobile in Minnesota. This youth Snowmobile Safety class is sponsored by Minnesota DNR, Fairmont Community Education and Recreation, and the Blizzard Snowmobile Club. before attending class.
