Play Café brewing at the library

Red Rock Noon Musical Lunch

The Red Rock Center for the Arts will host a free Noon Musical Lunch with the Daybreak Band, by Bob Krause and Steve Streit, playing favorites from the ’50s, ’60s and country at noon on Tuesday, Oct. 14. Basic Sewing Class

A Basic Sewing Class with Kay and Donna will be at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 14, at the Martin County Library in Fairmont. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own machines (if available) and one small project to work on, such as hemming pants, fixing a snag, or replacing buttons. Safe Routes to School

Safe Routes to School will be on Tuesday, Oct. 14. SRTS provides four safe routes for children to get active by walking and biking to school one day a week during the fall and spring. Children who attend public and parochial elementary schools in Fairmont benefit by exercising with peers in a safe, chaperoned environment. Walkers and bikers are brought to their respective schools by crosswalk guards and adult volunteers along safe routes. The chaperoned routes will begin at the following locations: Route 1, Corner of Day Street and South Orient (7:45 a.m.), Route 2, Begins at the Fairmont Aquatic Park (7:30 a.m.), Route 3 Begins at St Paul Lutheran School Playground (7:40 a.m.) and Route 4 begins at Grace Lutheran Church (7:30 a.m.). The beginning locations of each route are also designated SRTS Safe Zones. Parents are encouraged to use the drop points to promote walking for fitness and avoid the congestion at Fairmont Elementary School.
